Boutique cruise ship, Azamara Journey sailed up the River Thames concluding its 102-day voyage around the globe
June 2018: Azamara’s 690-passenger cruise liner, Azamara Journey, sailed through the Thames Barrier on Saturday 16 June 2018, marking the end of its 102-day World Journey. The 21,619-mile voyage began in Sydney on 7 March and ended in Greenwich, London after visiting 28 countries and encountering 60 individual destinations.
A total of 53 guests sailed the entire world journey, with thousands of others joining for segments of the voyage. This once-in-a-lifetime trip saw the ship sail through three continents and cross the equator, stopping at a selection of beloved cruising destinations such as Italy, France and Thailand, as well as lesser frequented destinations such as Myanmar, Brunei and Israel.
The 30,000 tonne Azamara Journey passed through the Thames Barrier at 2pm on Saturday 16 June, after passing by London landmarks such as The O2 Arena, the Cutty Sark, Billingsgate Fish Market and the Old Royal Naval College.
Underscoring the brand’s hallmark immersive programming, Azamara’s world journey included 18 late night departures, 13 overnight stays and exposed guests to around 20 different languages. Over 1,000 glasses of Champagne were served throughout the voyage, which also featured an extensive selection of shore excursions. Highlights include visits to the Sydney Opera House; the iconic Wat Arun temple in Bangkok; The dead Sea in Jordan and Prince's Palace of Monaco.

Croatia has seen a sort of transformation recently, one that has taken it from a hidden gem of coastal delights to one of the hottest travel destinations in Europe. What makes this small Balkan nation so appealing? It could be the brilliant sapphire waters of the Adriatic and spectacular white beaches. Or maybe it’s the medieval architecture and walled towns steeped in history begging to be uncovered. Or perhaps it’s the friendly, welcoming people and unique folk culture.
