They are multi‑day, immersive overland Experiences that take place during your cruise. Guests disembark the ship in one port and travel inland or onward for one or more nights, then rejoin the ship in either the same port or a different port, depending on the itinerary.

Every Overland experience is seamlessly arranged by Azamara, including transportation, accommodations, guided touring and meals—allowing guests to explore destinations in greater depth while enjoying a smooth, worry‑free experience.

The program includes all required international and/or domestic flights, where applicable, ensuring smooth connections between destinations as outlined in the itinerary. Guests will enjoy accommodations at carefully selected, top-tier hotels, typically rated 4-star or 5-star, chosen for their comfort, location, service standards, and overall quality.

Each overland experience also features professionally guided sightseeing tours led by knowledgeable local guides, offering in-depth cultural, historical, and regional insights. All applicable entrance fees to scheduled attractions, landmarks, and monuments are included in the package price unless otherwise specifically noted in the program details.

Meals are included as clearly outlined in the itinerary, which may feature a combination of hotel breakfasts, select lunches, and/or dinners depending on the destination and touring schedule. Any meals not expressly mentioned in the itinerary are not included and will be at the guest’s own expense. We encourage guests to review the detailed daily program to understand exactly what is included in their selected overland experience.

You can book an overland program when reserving your cruise or you can add it afterwards, by contacting your travel advisor or our Azamara reservations team. Availability is limited, so early booking is recommended.

Yes, Onboard Credits (OBCs) may be applied toward the purchase of eligible overland tours. Guests are welcome to use any available OBC balance to offset the cost of pre-booked or onboard-confirmed overland programs, subject to the cruise line’s applicable terms and conditions. OBCs will be applied to the total cost of the overland tour at the time of processing, reducing the remaining balance due.

If the total value of the overland program exceeds the available OBC balance, any remaining amount will automatically be charged to the credit card on file associated with the guest’s booking or onboard account.

Guests will be met and assisted by a qualified local guide or professional tour escort who will accompany them during sightseeing and overland portions of the journey.

Please note that during some flight segments, a guide may not travel with the group. In these instances, guests will travel independently on their scheduled flights. However, upon arrival at the destination airport, a local representative will be waiting to greet them after they have cleared customs and immigration and collected their luggage. From that point forward, guests will receive full assistance with transfers and the continuation of their program.

Our team carefully coordinates all logistics to ensure a smooth and seamless experience, even in situations where guests are traveling independently between destinations.

No, there will not always be an Azamara staff member accompanying the group throughout the program. While an Azamara representative may join in certain destinations or on select departures, this is not guaranteed for every itinerary or segment.

Customization is possible if you do it on a private basis.  Please reach out to our Destination Concierge at destinationconcierge@azamara.com to further discuss the options

Most tours involve moderate to extensive amount of walking. If you have mobility concerns, please review the activity level in the itinerary or contact Azamara for advice regarding your specific overland program.

Please carefully review the “Important Notes” section within each overland program description, as this section contains essential information regarding visa requirements and entry formalities. Visa regulations vary by destination and nationality, and the specific requirements applicable to your itinerary will be clearly outlined there.

In certain cases, visa arrangements will be handled on behalf of guests as part of the overland program. However, in many instances, guests are required to obtain the appropriate visas independently prior to joining the ship. It is the guest’s responsibility to ensure that all required travel documentation, including passports and visas, is valid and secured in advance of travel when necessary.

Additionally, some destinations may issue visas on arrival. Where this option is available, the relevant details, procedures, and any associated costs will be clearly specified in the “Important Notes” section of the overland description. We strongly recommend reviewing this information well in advance of departure to avoid any delays or complications during travel.

We make every effort to carefully plan our Overland programs so that guests only miss sea days whenever possible. Our goal is to minimize any disruption to your onboard experience. However, due the regions of the world where there are amazing places to visit, there may be occasions when a scheduled port of call is missed while participating in an Overland program. In such instances, no compensation will be provided for the missed port.

Similarly, while we do our best to schedule Overland programs around signature onboard events including AzAmazing Evenings, White Night, or other special activities, there may be regions or itineraries where unavoidable overlaps occur. If participation in an Overland program results in missing one of these events, no compensation will be provided.

We kindly ask that you carefully review the “Important Notes” section within each individual overland program description, as cancellation policies may vary depending on the destination and specific arrangements involved. Due to the complexity of logistics, advance reservations, and regional supplier requirements, cancellation deadlines are not uniform across all programs.

In general, cancellation terms can range anywhere from 150 days prior to departure to as little as 30 days prior, depending on the region of the world and the nature of the services included (such as charter flights, special permits, remote accommodations, or limited-capacity experiences). Certain destinations with stricter supplier contracts or peak-season demand may require earlier cancellation deadlines and may incur higher penalties.

For this reason, it is essential to review the “Important Notes” section of your selected overland program carefully before confirming your booking. This section will clearly outline the applicable cancellation timeline, penalties, and any non-refundable elements associated with the program.
