Azamara® Announces Two Godmothers For New Ship, Azamara Pursuit

Lucy Huxley of Travel Weekly UK and Ellen Asmodeo-Giglio of AFAR Media will celebrate destination immersion by christening the new ship on 28 August in Southampton

London, 18 June 2018: Azamara has announced a duo of Godmothers for its new ship, Azamara Pursuit. Lucy Huxley, Editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly UK, and Ellen Asmodeo-Giglio, Chief Revenue Officer of US-based AFAR Media, will christen the ship in Southampton on 28 August 2018.

“For Azamara Pursuit, we wanted Godmothers who share Azamara's passion for travel and destination immersion and travel trade alike,” says Larry Pimentel, President and CEO of Azamara. “With almost 40 years combined in the industry, both Lucy and Ellen are travel experts, and understand how enriching cultural experiences can be. They fit perfectly with the Azamara ethos and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have the new ship christened by them.”

Lucy Huxley is the Editor-in-Chief of the Travel Weekly group, spearheading editorial content across its portfolio of leading UK trade publications, including Travel Weekly, Travel Weekly Business, Travolution, Aspire and gazetters.com. Huxley counts cruise, tour operators and travel agents among her specialist areas, and has written extensively about the subjects throughout her 20-year career. She is a keen advocate of championing the personalities that bring the travel industry to life, leading the charge with uniquely making agents regular cover stars of Travel Weekly and hosting the annual Agent Achievement Awards.

Ellen Asmodeo-Giglio has worked in the travel media industry for over 17 years and is currently Executive Vice President / Chief Revenue Officer of US-based AFAR Media, which specialises in travel. She also served as Vice President and General Manager of Weekend Edition & Luxury Group at The Wall Street Journal and, prior to that, she was a luxury marketing consultant and Senior Vice President and Publisher of Travel + Leisure magazine.

Larry Pimentel added: “Choosing two Godmothers for Azamara Pursuit is a unique move in the cruise world, but it’s one that showcases the importance of both sides of the Atlantic Ocean to us. We value the UK and US markets equally, so we are delighted to have them both represented by our Godmothers.”

Seven Things to do in Croatia

Croatia has seen a sort of transformation recently, one that has taken it from a hidden gem of coastal delights to one of the hottest travel destinations in Europe. What makes this small Balkan nation so appealing? It could be the brilliant sapphire waters of the Adriatic and spectacular white beaches. Or maybe it’s the medieval architecture and walled towns steeped in history begging to be uncovered. Or perhaps it’s the friendly, welcoming people and unique folk culture.
