Larry Pimentel Honored With Lifetime Achievement Award At The Cruise International Awards 2013

Larry Pimentel, President and CEO of Azamara®, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Cruise International Awards.

Prior to taking the helm at Azamara, Larry Pimentel served as president, CEO and co-owner of SeaDream Yacht Club; previously, he was president and CEO of Cunard Line, where he was instrumental in placing the order for Queen Mary 2, and Seabourn Cruise Line, where he signed the contract for three new-builds.

Cruise International Editor Liz Jarvis said: “Larry Pimentel has made an extraordinary contribution to the cruise industry. He was a pioneer of the ‘destination immersion’ concept, giving passengers the opportunity to spend longer in ports of call, which revolutionized cruise holidays, and has been instrumental in the success of leading cruise lines. The judges felt he was a thoroughly deserved winner of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Larry Pimentel said: “Being given a Lifetime Achievement Award is a huge honor, and is testament to the great teams of people I have had the privilege to work with. This award is a reflection of the hard work carried out by our teams across the business and on board our ships. I am inspired every day by the fantastic industry I work in, and the great people who bring to life the ships and experiences I represent. This award is hugely appreciated and I will continue to drive greater awareness of the cruise sector that I enjoy so passionately.”

Larry also was recently named among 25 #TopTravelTweeters in the travel industry by U.K. travel trade magazine TTG, and among SKIFT’s Top Travel Industry CEOs on Social Media

The Cruise International Awards 2013 took place at the British Film Institute in London on Thursday 12 September.

Cruise International is the only U.K. consumer travel magazine on the newsstand dedicated to cruise holidays, helping both the cruise holiday enthusiast and first-timers alike to enjoy the best that cruising has to offer.

Previous recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award, which is voted for by a panel of cruise experts, include David Dingle, CEO of Carnival UK; Gianluigi Aponte, founder and CEO of MSC Cruises; and Rai Caluori, Executive Vice President, Princess Cruises.

Seven Things to do in Croatia

Croatia has seen a sort of transformation recently, one that has taken it from a hidden gem of coastal delights to one of the hottest travel destinations in Europe. What makes this small Balkan nation so appealing? It could be the brilliant sapphire waters of the Adriatic and spectacular white beaches. Or maybe it’s the medieval architecture and walled towns steeped in history begging to be uncovered. Or perhaps it’s the friendly, welcoming people and unique folk culture.
