Sydney is one of my favorite cities in the world. In fact, aside from where I live in New York City, I will say Sydney is the best city in the world. I would truly consider moving there if it weren’t so far away from pretty much anywhere! That said, it’s an amazing place to visit and here are 5 things that shouldn’t be missed in Sydney!
Walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach
This walk is absolutely stunning and can be done by anyone. It is not very rigorous although it is about 5 miles but has many places to stop and rest. Plus, you’ll want to take photos of the gorgeous coastal scenery.
Bondi Beach is perhaps my favorite spot in Sydney itself and the five beach towns the walk takes in are equally fantastic. Stop off in Coogee at the end for a few pints before getting a taxi or bus back to the ship or hotel.
Visit Taronga Zoo
If you’re in Australia, you must see koala bears. That’s a fact and there’s no excuses not to! Taronga Zoo in Sydney is a fantastic place to see them.
It’s easy to get there from Sydney and only takes a few hours in total. There are several other great animals to see as well. You won’t be disappointed!
Take the Ferry to Manly Beach
The ferry to Manly is the equivalent of taking the Staten Island ferry from Manhattan, because it gives you the best view of the city. The Ferry will give you easily the best views of the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge for that iconic shot.
Once in Manly, take it in because it’s one of the best beaches in Sydney and has some great vibes. The restaurants and shopping here are also excellent and trust me; you’ll want to stay a while!
Sydney Opera House Tour
I am not a fan of opera, at all. However, the Sydney Opera House is clearly the most famous and iconic opera house in the world so I signed up for a tour. I was very happy I did because it takes you places in the Opera House you wouldn’t see on your own.
Aside, from views inside the chambers, you get great information on how it was built and the design. It’s a very interesting landmark and if you’re in Sydney, you should learn about their iconic building!
Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb
You’ve seen the photos of people climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge and there’s a good reason why so many people do it: because it’s awesome! The views of the Opera House and the city are stellar, and you’re atop a famous bridge!

The climb is easy although it’s a bit pricy and time consuming. So budget some time and money to do it but it is worth doing. The views are phenomenal!
