Why You Should Consider Cruising to Alaska

Alaska, known as “The Last Frontier” is beloved for its remote, rugged locale. That it’s far removed from the outside world makes it beautiful, but can also make it difficult to visit. Getting from place to place in Alaska can be difficult and time-consuming. That’s why cruising in Alaska is a great option

Alaska is one of my favorite places to visit in all of the United States. But my first visit to the state included an exhausting and expensive combination of long car drives, seaplanes, and helicopters. Alaska’s geography can be tough to navigate, even when staring at it on a map. I was often too tired to hike or explore what I’d come to see. I wish I’d cruised instead.

Some of Alaska’s most enticing attractions are its glaciers, mountains, and wildlife. For my money, the best things to see in Alaska are along its amazing coastline. Glacier Bay National Park is as good as it gets for glacier scenery in North America. On a cruise, you can simply relax and enjoy the scenery.

Of course, you can do a lot more than relax, too. Azamara’s shore excursions in Alaska cover everything you’ll want to do while there. Fishing excursions, biking, hiking, wildlife tours, glacier visits, dogsledding…the list goes on!

On a cruise, hopping from one Alaskan town to the next is as easy as going to sleep in a big, cozy bed and waking up the next morning in your destination. Alaska’s capital city, Juneau, is one of my favorites—but the capital is just the beginning. KetchikanSitka, and Homer are all sure to delight as well.

You can also easily journey to the outer reaches of Alaska (like the remote Kodiak Island) or traverse the Northwest Passage, without breaking the bank. And just because you’re cruising doesn’t mean you miss out on Alaska’s exciting interior, either. Azamara offers Land and Sea Packages that make it easy to customize an Alaskan vacation so that you won’t miss out on places like Denali, Fairbanks, and Anchorage.

By now, you can probably tell how much I love Alaska. I’ve been twice and have seen a lot, but certainly not all. When I return, it will be via ship, I assure you!

Seven Things to do in Croatia

Croatia has seen a sort of transformation recently, one that has taken it from a hidden gem of coastal delights to one of the hottest travel destinations in Europe. What makes this small Balkan nation so appealing? It could be the brilliant sapphire waters of the Adriatic and spectacular white beaches. Or maybe it’s the medieval architecture and walled towns steeped in history begging to be uncovered. Or perhaps it’s the friendly, welcoming people and unique folk culture.
