Cairns, Australia is one of those places that you’ve heard about forever. It’s the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and oh so exotic-sounding. While it most certainly is the gateway to one of the worlds great natural wonders, it is actually a pretty normal town. It’s a pleasant oceanside town that is easily walkable and has a lot of good restaurants and bars. Cairns is a great gateway to adventure in Northern Queensland.
Cairns is a really laid back place but it’s not a huge surf town like some people would think. Also, the beaches are not that nice compared to other spots in Queensland. Cairns is more of a hub to go other places and do fun activities inland.
From Cairns, you can go on crocodile safaris in the rivers of Queensland and visit croc farms, which are pretty cool to see in person. You can also go bungee jumping nearby with the world famous AJ Hackett. But my favorite daytrip from Cairns is Cape Tribulation.
Cape Tribulation, or simply Cape Trib, is a beautiful place of nature. Situated on a great beach with a rainforest and lots of fun activities, you can have a lot of fun. Just remember it’s going to be pretty humid and there’s a lot of mosquitoes - or mozzies, as the Aussies say!
The main reason people go to Cairns is to go snorkeling or diving on the reef, and it is well worth the trip.
Azamara's Azamara Shore Excursions tours for Cairns during this February 2016 voyage include:
Back in Cairns, stroll the town and shop the shops but don’t forget to do as the Aussies do and have a few pints and watch the world stroll by. If you happen to have an overnight stay, the nightlife in Cairns is pretty legendary in Australia where young and old party together. My personal favorite place is the Woolshed!
Cairns is a nice place. It’s very laid back. It’s very Northern Queensland. Sit back and enjoy the atmosphere!

Croatia has seen a sort of transformation recently, one that has taken it from a hidden gem of coastal delights to one of the hottest travel destinations in Europe. What makes this small Balkan nation so appealing? It could be the brilliant sapphire waters of the Adriatic and spectacular white beaches. Or maybe it’s the medieval architecture and walled towns steeped in history begging to be uncovered. Or perhaps it’s the friendly, welcoming people and unique folk culture.

Just like every snowflake is unique, so is every individual and their approach to travel. Some people value staying connected while they travel, while the fashionista in your life might prioritize wardrobe changes. The aspiring photographer might have a carry-on filled with camera equipment, and someone drawn to wellness may need their portable workout gear on every trip!
