Discover grand monuments to Copenhagen’s royal past on an excursion through this historic capital. Set at the mouth of the Baltic, Copenhagen was the enviable home of Danish monarchs, earls and barons for generations. Today, their royal touch is still found throughout the city. Visit Rosenborg Castle, built between 1606 and 1617 by King Christian IV. Explore its grand chambers to find collections of porcelain silverware and fine art that belonged to monarchs throughout the ages. This castle also safeguards the Crown Jewels and Coronation regalia of those medieval days. Next, explore Christiansborg Castle, now the official home of the Danish Parliament. Stroll through the royal reception rooms and the Knights Hall, adorned with magnificent chandeliers and tapestries. Continue past Amalienborg Palace, home of the royal Danish family today, and see the world-famous symbol of Copenhagen, Hans Christian Andersen’s Little Mermaid. Arrive at the airport with plenty of time to spare.
