OverviewHide
Your adventure begins in a leisurely fashion with morning tea at the Mathew Thomas Café, once visited by war hero, General Douglas MacArthur during his WWII stay. Then, head to Sandgate Lovers’ Walk to see the blue soldier crabs who scuttle along the sandflats during low tide, before heading out along the beautiful Sandgate bayside esplanade and across one of the longest bridges in Australia to Woody Point to view the dunes on one of the world’s largest sand islands. Next up is a visit to the Gayundah Shipwreck to see the red (and white) cliff faces and ‘secret cove’ beaches that only the locals know about. The adventure continues on and into Redcliffe where the Bee Gees once lived and are honored by ‘The Bee Gees Way,’ as you progress to the Redcliffe Museum, to uncover more local history. The day concludes with afternoon tea and a delicious vanilla slice.
