GREECE WELCOMES YOU
Your Greek adventure begins in Athens, where Europe’s oldest city offers endless opportunities to explore striking architecture and legendary historic sites. A late stay in Mykonos is next on the agenda, famed for its brilliant whitewashed structures, bright blue roofs, and gorgeous, sun-drenched harbor views.
The very definition of the term “picturesque”, Paros’ town of Parikia welcomes you with its landmark windmill, whitewashed homes with blue painted doors, and gardens of oranges and pomegranates. In Volos, explore the fascinating history of the area with a trip two hours inland to the Meteora Monastery, built hundreds of feet in the air on soaring sandstone rock faces.
Next, Thessaloniki’s 15 UNESCO World Heritage sites await, before a late night in Kavala. Picture-perfect beaches beckon, or spend the day shopping or exploring the 15th-century castle that crowns the city.
After you depart from Kavala, you’ll spend a night and day at sea, where you can unwind and enjoy Broadway-caliber entertainment or a pampering spa treatment as you gear up for the rest of your journey. On a late stay in Kuşadası, Turkey, head to nearby Ephesus to visit the Odeon, home of our “Ephesus: Back to Ancient Times” AzAmazing Evenings eventSM and the 24,000-capacity Great Theatre, where St. Paul used to preach.
Back in Greece, you’ll stop in Santorini, where you can take the cable car up the Fira town to witness an incredible sunset view—thanks to another late stay in port. Next up is the tiny island of Patmos, where the last book of the New Testament was allegedly written. Here, an air of mystery still hangs over the island—not unlike the misty fog that seems to be ever-present just off the shore. Your journey concludes back in Athens, where you can revisit old favorites or explore the sites you may have missed on day one.
