Embark on an eye-opening and heart-wrenching exploration of World War II, when Nazi forces and the dreaded Gestapo occupied Kristiansand. You’ll witness relics from the past that paint a vivid picture of those dark days, beginning at the “House of Horror”. Stiftelsen Arkivet was the headquarters of the Gestapo, a place known for the basement torture chamber you’ll enter on this tour. See and learn about the chilling events that took place here and experience the horrendous conditions prisoners endured during the occupation. Leaving Stiftelsen Arkivet, a short drive leads to the Kristiansand Cannon Museum. Here you’ll marvel at great weapons of war, including the only surviving German Kruppcannon, a massive gun spanning more than 60 feet in length with a range of 34 miles (that’s half way to Denmark!). You’ll also see Nazi uniforms, artillery and other relics on this immersive study of WWII and its impact on Norway.
