MIAMI, October 27, 2022: Azamara – the upmarket cruise line and leader in Destination Immersion® experiences – continues to make strides as an independent company with Azamara’s President, Carol Cabezas, having recently made her first visit to Mexico and Latin America to bolster market growth and generate greater confidence amongst trade partners in the region. Further demonstrating the importance of the LACAR region to the company, Azamara named Jose Roncero the Director of Business Development of Azamara’s Latin America markets earlier this year and joined Virtuoso Latin America.
“This visit to Mexico City comes at a very important time, as we continue to build upon the great momentum we’ve built following our recent return to service as a full four-ship fleet, as well as the immense growth of our shoreside team,” said Carol Cabezas, President of Azamara. “The LACAR market is very important to us, especially as we are seeing increased demand from travelers in the region seeking immersive experiences in unique destinations, and we look forward to driving further growth in this key market.”
Carol Cabezas’ first visit to the LACAR region as Azamara’s President took place in Mexico City, where she strengthened relationships with key trade partners and joined a trade panel to discuss significant and emerging topics for the cruise and travel industries. This visit comes shortly after Azamara’s shoreside team has doubled, including the appointment of Jose Roncero as Director of Business Development, Latin America, to lead Azamara’s business development team in the Latin American market and grow the company throughout the region. Based in Mexico City, Roncero brings over ten years of experience in the travel industry to Azamara, most recently serving as Virtuoso’s Regional Director, Latin America & Caribbean, where he drove engagement and growth for the company in his respective markets. Prior to this, Roncero held a Sales Executive position with Royal Caribbean International – previously working with Azamara, Royal Caribbean, and Celebrity – where he managed client portfolios to increase revenue and execute marketing plans and sales strategies.
Azamara will officially return to South America this fall for the first time since early 2020 as Azamara Pursuit® cruises along the continent’s most picturesque coasts, including a stop in Rio de Janeiro just in time to partake in Brazil’s famed Carnival festivities. Azamara’s South America itineraries will also ply the waters of the Antarctic Peninsula, as well as the picturesque Beagle Channel and the famed Strait of Magellan, with stops in the remote Falkland Islands.

Croatia has seen a sort of transformation recently, one that has taken it from a hidden gem of coastal delights to one of the hottest travel destinations in Europe. What makes this small Balkan nation so appealing? It could be the brilliant sapphire waters of the Adriatic and spectacular white beaches. Or maybe it’s the medieval architecture and walled towns steeped in history begging to be uncovered. Or perhaps it’s the friendly, welcoming people and unique folk culture.
