Go on a spelunking adventure into one of the world's largest limestone caves, the Akiyoshido Limestone Cave. Located approximately 320 feet beneath the Akiyoshidai limestone plateau in the Yamaguchi Prefecture, you'll find one of Japan's most celebrated geological marvels. The cave is known for its intricately shaped formations. On this adventure beneath the earth, you'll see unique formations, including the 50-foot-high Koganebashira or "golden column" and the Hyakumaizara, or "one hundred plates," a delicate formation of terraces within the cave. After exploring the cave, travel to the Akiyoshidai Karst Viewing Deck and have your camera ready for spectacular views of the region. Admire the unique karst topography and grassland.
