Travel into the Finnish countryside and meet local artisans at a historic ironworks village. Drive into Finland’s beautiful countryside, arriving at Fiskars Ironworks Village, a colorful and historic town. The village was founded in 1649 by Peter Thorwöste with special permission from Queen Christina of Sweden. Today the cooperative is home to over 100 artists, designers, and artisans. Take a short walk to a small glass-blowing studio where you’ll meet your host and learn the art of glass blowing. Create your own souvenir ornament. Continue on to the local jewelry studio where you’ll sip a welcome drink and meet the owner. Visit a 150-year-old cowshed which has been converted into a goldsmith workshop and gallery. The owner will meet you in person to share his knowledge about Finland’s unique Spectrolite stones and about designing and creating pieces of jewelry. Then it’s time for a traditional local lunch at a cozy restaurant, with a beer tasting at Restaurant Kuparipaja. Afterward, enjoy free time to browse the handicraft shops before returning to Helsinki.
Meet the artisans, immerse yourself in rural village life, and let the locals proudly show off their handiwork.
Learn glass-blowing techniques and get the chance to create your own ornament.
Savor a delicious lunch and beer tasting at a local restaurant.
