Your exploration of Hiroshima’s history begins at the Peace Memorial Park. The park is known for its somber monuments that serve as memorials to the victims of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima during World War II. Visit the Peace Memorial Museum and reflect on photos, artifacts, and an exhibit that offers a somber reminder of the impact the bomb had on local people. You’ll also see the Atomic Bomb Dome, an UNESCO World Heritage Site that marks the epicenter of the blast. Continue to Shukkeien Garden, designed by Lord Nagaakira Asano in 1620.
