Drive across the beautiful Macedonian countryside and stop at Pella, the second capital of Macedonia, and the birthplace of Alexander the Great, where you'll visit the archaeological site, showcasing part of the glorious ancient city. Enter the residences of the ancient aristocrats to admire the exceptional floor mosaics from the 4th century BC, as well as all the findings of the excavation displayed in the museum. You'll then re-board the coach for a brief ride to Vergina, passing through Veria—where St. Paul preached his sermons to the Thessalonians—along the way. Here, you'll visit the monument commemorating his arrival into the city. Last, but not least, you'll visit the unique museum that houses the Royal Tombs and treasures from Alexander the Great's father, Philip II's, mausoleum, before enjoying a traditional Greek lunch at a local taverna before returning to the ship.
