Hotel Director Philip Herbert's Goodbye to Azamara Loyalty Members

By Azamara

Wow, 2020 certainly has been a year where everything has been turned upside down and what we now accept as ‘normal’ would have been inconceivable a year ago. This has forced many of us to undertake changes that again would have been unthinkable a year ago. Personally, I have now had to make a change that is bitter-sweet.

My life for the last fourteen years has been Azamara and although this is not something I planned or sought out I have now been given an opportunity to pursue my career elsewhere.

The bitter part is leaving a family of guests, crew and colleagues that over the years have truly made an indelible and incredibly positive impact on myself and who have been there for me, with me and by my side through thick and thin. This is absolutely priceless and can never be replaced and truly makes leaving one of the hardest things I have had to do.

The sweet is that I have been offered an job opportunity where I will be able to share more of my time at home with my wife Barbro and of course the dog, Mutley.

I leave with incredible memories, of funny times, of sharing experiences and knowing I have made some of the best friends I could ever have hoped for in my career at sea – thank you.

Azamara is a very special place, beautiful ships filled with incredible people and I will follow very closely as the company rebounds and goes from strength to strength.

Philip

Seven Things to do in Croatia

Croatia has seen a sort of transformation recently, one that has taken it from a hidden gem of coastal delights to one of the hottest travel destinations in Europe. What makes this small Balkan nation so appealing? It could be the brilliant sapphire waters of the Adriatic and spectacular white beaches. Or maybe it’s the medieval architecture and walled towns steeped in history begging to be uncovered. Or perhaps it’s the friendly, welcoming people and unique folk culture.
