Set out on a panoramic drive with stunning views of the Acropolis - an ancient, elevated city - of Rhodes. Discover the town's theater, stadium, and the temple of Pythian Apollo, known as a host to ancient cult rituals. Continue your scenic drive through cypress, pines and green oaks to Filerimos, a plateau 1,000 feet above sea level, and have your camera handy for the splendid views. Visit the Church of Our Lady, a Byzantine architectural marvel built by the Knights of St. John and used as the Orthodox Cathedral of Rhodes under Byzantine rule and the Latin Cathedral under the Franks. Your final stop is the excavations of Kamiros, one of the three large Doric cities that united to create the city-state of Rhodes.
Enjoy a panoramic drive through the Acropolis of Rhodes to discover the Odeon, a stadium with a capacity of 800 spectators that was used to hold musical performances and classes in rhetoric and explore the Temple of Pythian Apollo, established in eighth century BC.
Visit the Church of Our Lady of the Castle, which was built in the 11th century and is now one of Rhodes' most popular attractions.
Continue to the excavations at Kamiros, remnants of the once powerful Hellenistic city which was almost completely destroyed by an earthquake in 226 BC.
