Portugal, On Both Sides of the Atlantic
Your incredible journey starts in Rio De Janeiro, where iconic sites like the Christ the Redeemer statue and Sugarloaf Mountain await. Next, leave the urban energy of Rio behind for the white sand beaches and chic shopping of Buzios—known as the Brazilian Saint-Tropez.
After a night at sea, it’s on to Salvador de Bahia, one of the oldest colonial cities in the Americas. Explore the historic city center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or browse the shops of the Old Town. When you re-embark, you’ll have five more nights at sea enjoying everything the Azamara PursuitSM has to offer before docking in Mindelo, Cape Verde, an exciting port city known for its nightlife and Brazilian-influenced Carnaval celebrations. Prefer something a little more low-key? Browse the Museu do Mar, a museum offering visitors a glimpse into São Vincente’s history, or enjoy a meal at one of the eclectic waterfront cafés.
With two days at sea, there’s plenty of time to unwind with a spa massage, savor authentic Italian cuisine with a twist at Aqualina, or dig into a succulent steak or seafood feast at Prime C. Next, you’ll explore the Canary Islands. Enjoy a late stay in Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, so you can relax on the beaches at Los Gigantes or take a walk on the wild side at Tenerife Zoo Monkey Park or Loro Park, home to colorful tropical birds. Set against a volcanic landscape, La Palma is best explored on foot–a hike through the Caldera de Taburiente National Park followed by a refreshing dip in Charco Azul, a natural swimming hole, is a fantastic way to experience this island gem.
Sail into Madeira, an archipelago that’s beloved by visitors from all over the world. Sample a taste of Madeira wine along with a big bowl of espetada, a savory beef stew. Your voyage wraps up in Lisbon, the colorful, historic heart of Portugal, where you’ll be delighted by the cobblestoned streets, hilly neighborhoods, and warm welcomes everywhere you go.
