Fascinating Cultural Connections in Southeast Asia and the Middle East

Your journey along ancient trade routes begins in the Garden City of Singapore, a culinary wonderland often called the Food Capital of the World. Next up is a late stay in Kuala Lumpur (Port Klang), Malaysia, where you can explore an eclectic mix of architecture—from the Moorish Sultan Abdul Samad Building to the iconic 88-story Petronas Towers. Recharge at some of the city’s famous kedai kopi shops, clusters of stalls featuring a variety of delicious dishes.

After a day at sea, you’ll arrive in Sabang, Indonesia, a beach and jungle paradise known for its rustic way of life, friendly people, and gorgeous views. Unwind during two more days at sea. You can sample international dining, see Broadway-level entertainment, and relax with signature spa treatments while you journey to Hambantota, Sri Lanka. Here, sprawling national parks are home to leopards, elephants, wild buffalo, and more. The next day, you’ll arrive in Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka, where you can check out diverse shops, white sandy beaches, and tea plantations. From Colombo, you can take an exhilarating seaplane trip to Kandy, where sacred Buddhist sites and the Royal Botanical Gardens await. A journey to nearby Pinnawala will bring you face-to-face with gentle giants at the famous elephant orphanage. An overnight stay in Cochin, India provides plenty of time to enjoy a cultural mix that includes ancient mosques, a 400-year-old synagogue, and Portuguese-style homes—fascinating reminders of the city’s history as the former center of the Indian spice trade.

After another day at sea, you’ll wake up in Mumbai, India. From flashy Bollywood to the immense and bustling Chor Bazaar, you’ll be amazed at the sights this city has to offer during your overnight stay. Two more days at sea lead to another late night stay in Muscat, Oman. Don’t miss the Sulan Qaboos Grand Mosque—the world’s third largest—which features a Swarovski chandelier boasting more than 600,000 crystals and a hand-woven prayer rug with an astonishing 1.7 billion knots.

After another day at sea, you’ll arrive for a late stay in Doha, Qatar. Make your way to the Souq Waqif, the renovated Arab market quarter filled with maze-like corridors of aromatic spices, colorful textiles, and gold jewelry. Then it’s off to the dazzling city of Abu Dhabi for another late stay. Visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, an architectural wonder with 82 domes, 24-carat gold-gilded chandeliers, and the world's largest hand-knotted carpet. Don’t miss the Louvre Abu Dhabi, a stunning piece of architecture that is itself a work of art.

Your final day will be spent in magnificent Dubai, where everything is just a bit bigger and bolder—the world-famous Palm Islands, the world’s first 7-star hotel, and the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, are all located here.
