Sailing: August 01, 2023

Staggering fjords, majestic waterfalls, and rugged coastline

Your voyage begins in Leith, a harbor that’s been welcoming kings and queens since the 14th century and serves as a gateway to Scotland’s dynamic capital of Edinburgh. Then a luxurious day at sea takes you to our first stop, Stavanger. A late stay means more time to pop into trendy cafés, meander along ancient cobblestone walkways and rows of 18th-century whitewashed wooden houses, or take a helicopter ride high above the impressive Pulpit Rock. In Haugesund, crowned the birthplace of Norway by Viking King Harald Fairhair in the 9th century, explore what is now one of Norway’s principal culture centers. We stay late in Olden—a world of towering glaciers, cascading waterfalls, and deep mountain valleys—and Alesund, where you can discover endless Art Nouveau architecture.

Take advantage of a day at sea for some pampering at Sanctum Spa before arriving at some of the most dramatic scenery in Norway in Svolvaer, with its spectacular glacial rock formations looming large behind beaches and green fields. Next it’s on to Trollfjord, a breathtaking passage through the best of the Arctic Circle, followed by a late stay in Tromso, where you can enjoy the land of the midnight sun in the summer. We stop in Honningsvag, the last village before cruising the Nordkapp, or North Cape as it’s commonly known, a majestic cliff towering over 1,000 feet above the sea. In the always stunning Alta, enjoy a warmer, drier climate than other ports in northern Norway as you experience thriving Sami culture and view the rock carvings in Hjemmeluft.

We stay late in the beautiful Nordic port of Harstad, where you can take a fishing tour in icy Atlantic waters or take the short easy hike up Mount Keipen for magnificent views. In Bodo we stay late so you can fully experience Saltstraumen, the world’s strongest tidal current and haven for fishing and diving enthusiasts. After a day at sea we arrive in Trondheim. Make your way to the historic Bakklandet neighborhood to see 17th century working-class homes that have been restored and transformed into trendy shops, cool cafes, and bars and restaurants specializing in local cuisine. Or climb to the top of the cathedral’s tower for incredible views of the city and the Nidelva river. Sail the day away in style aboard your boutique hotel at sea before ending our extraordinary journey in Amsterdam, where you will want to stay to explore the unique culture, singular personality, and labyrinth of endless canals and bridges.
