All that glitters might be gold
Marhaba, welcome! Your voyage begins in Dubai, a city quite unlike any other in the world. Here you can discover the world’s first underwater hotel, the world’s tallest building, and for an experience you’ll have to see to believe, skiing in the desert. Next, we arrive in the dazzling city of Abu Dhabi, where camels keep company alongside lavish sports cars. Visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, an architectural wonder with 82 domes, 24-carat gold-gilded chandeliers, and the world's largest hand-knotted carpet. Explore the museum city of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, a stunning piece of architecture that is a work or art in and of itself, and admire its spectacular sun-dappled dome and rich permanent collection. Beat the desert heat with a stroll along the waterfront of Corniche Road. And we stay overnight here, so there’s lots of time to shop the many upscale malls and soak up the intriguing mix of old and new.
Then we sail off to the sophisticated private island retreat of Sir Bani Yas, where you can relax with a beach day in the sun, glide along on a stand up paddleboard, or venture off an island nature reserve Jeep drive or mountain bike adventure. For our next stop, an overnight is in order—you’ll need it. In Doha, explore priceless Islamic art spanning 1,400 years and three continents at the Museum of Islamic Art, designed by noted architect IM Pei. Linger over inventive cuisine at Alain Ducasse’s famed restaurant, IDAM, before making your way to the Souq Waqif, the renovated Arabic market quarter. Wander the maze-like corridors and shop for aromatic spices, colorful textiles, and gold jewelry. Be sure to walk the Al-Corniche, the long seaside promenade that curves around Doha Bay for breathtaking views of this fascinating, ancient city.
And last, but certainly not least, the City of Gold: Dubai. We spend the end of our journey where it began, with an overnight to take in what we may have left behind in this futuristic oasis. For a bird’s eye view of the bustling city, ride 57 elevators to the 148th floor observation deck of Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, or explore new heights with a helicopter ride high above this dazzling city. At the Dubai Gold Souk, interact with merchants for one-of-a-kind pieces that will shine and sparkle in the desert sun. Or meet the Gentoo and King Penguins who call Ski Dubai home.
