Experience an evening in Sitka that gives you a glimpse of how its residents have expressed themselves in the music and dances of two very different cultures. Travel to the only center of performing arts in the region and receive a warm welcome with a selection of teas, Russian tea cookies, and thumbprint shortbread cookies with kelp marmalade. Then, sit down to enjoy an evening of native and Russian dance. Listen and watch native tribe members perform a beautiful and moving Naa Kahídi Tlingit native dance. Next watch a Russian folk dance by the New Archangel Dancers, a celebration of Alaska’s rich Russian history. Listen to an elder tell the tale of White Sail. After the performance, have your camera to meet and greet the performers and take photos.
