Helicopter to Montserrat Volcano

Book This Shore Excursion
Starting from $399 USD / Adult
Climb into a helicopter and soar into the Caribbean sky on your way to witness the undeniable power of Mother Nature. Your destination is the neighboring island of Montserrat and it’s active Soufriére Hills Volcano, which erupted in 1997 burying much of the island in volcanic ash like a modern-day Pompeii. In fact, the only way to explore the “exclusion zone” is by helicopter. Fly beside the 3,000-foot volcano which frequently spews ash and steam. Soar over the remains of evacuated villages swallowed by the mighty eruption. Witness the previous location of the WH Bramble Airport, now vanished from view. No sight is more telling than that of the charred remains of Plymouth, the island’s former capital. In some places, the city lies buried under 40 feet of ash. Experience the other worldly sensation of flying over Montserrat before taking in bird’s-eye views of Antiqua on the return flight.
  • Lift off and marvel at the views as your soar high above the Caribbean Sea.
  • Fly over the exclusion zone of Montserrat’s volcano, which rendered two-thirds of the island uninhabitable.
  • Marvel at the massive destruction as you fly over evacuated village and the previous location of the island’s airport.
