Your first stop on today’s tour is the Orthodox Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, where you’ll be introduced to Romanian Orthodoxy. Built in the 19th century, the cathedral is the largest of its kind in southern Romania. Next, take a stroll through the Old Town to Ovid Square, named after the famous Roman poet who was exiled here by the Roman Emperor in 8 A.D. His statue, built in 1888 by the famous sculptor, Ettore Ferrari, faces the Sea. After, visit the Natural History and Archaeology Museum, one of the richest history museums in Eastern Europe (a phrase should be omitted) Romania, which hosts an impressive heritage of over 430,000 objects dating from the Paleolithic to modern times. After the walking tour, drive to a local restaurant to enjoy an outstanding folklore performance over glasses of Romanian wines and snacks.
