Get to know Ishigaki Island, beginning at Kabira Bay on the island's northwest coast, and considered one of Ishigaki's most beautiful sites. The Bay is famous for its rare black pearls and its small Shochu brewery that's unique for using brown sugar as its main ingredient. Swimming, snorkeling, and diving are not allowed in the bay, but you can see the beautiful blue water and white sand from the observation point. After, head to Yaima Village where the traditional approx. 100-year-old architecture has been rebuilt; it's also home to a small forest filled with squirrel monkeys who delightfully jump from branch to branch. Beautiful coral reefs and more than 90 different kinds of tropical fish live in this area. Finally, head to Bannna Park, also called the Emerald Sea Observatory, where-if weather permits-you can see both Taketomi Island and Iriomote Island from its vantage point.
