August LOYALTY NEWSLETTER

While summer may be winding down for many, it’s just heating up with Azamara. We’ve been busy behind the scenes making sure our inaugural days back at sea are memorable to all who’ve joined us on our first 2021 voyages.

It’s our commitment to you, as loyal customers, that when you embark on an Azamara voyage, you can do so with total confidence in your onboard experience, which is why we diligently worked to develop our Explore Well at Sea program. From enhanced health and safety standards to enhanced screening and cleaning, we can assure you peace of mind and happy sailing on your next voyage.

It’s often not just the destination that makes a vacation memorable, but also the journey along the way — which is why we’ve reimagined a number of our onboard events to deliver you the unique Azamara experiences you know and love. Experiences like our Destination Celebration event — an evolution of our Azamazing Evenings which brings local life and culture to you — or our recently expanded White Night offering, which is now a ship-wide Azamara exclusive event. And, of course, a whole host of Loyalty events, including a ship-wide Happy hour, reserved for our Loyalty members.

With the journey taken care of, we’ve also set our sights on our future destinations and launched our 2023 Europe deployment, along with a new selection of later 2021 to early 2022 sailings in the exotic Canary Islands, the Caribbean, and more. We’ll be visiting a few old favorites, some of which we haven’t sailed to since 2019, and embarking on a few new adventures with an exciting roster of itineraries that promise new ports, new land programs, and new shore excursions to match our growing list of new onboard experiences.

As always, none of this would have been possible without your endless support—even when we were not at sea. We thank you for being such an integral part of our Azamara family—your loyalty means so much to us.

Return to the Sea, Return to Service.

We’ve recently embarked on our first voyages of 2021, and we are beyond excited to continue to welcome guests onboard once again. It was important to us that we didn’t return to business as usual, but that we returned better than ever and prepared to make your onboard experience a seamless one. Which is why we proudly launched Explore Well at Sea, our thorough new health and safety standards created to provide each guest with peace of mind sailing, along with an evolved collection of itineraries in one of our favorite regions — Greece. From heightened onboard vaccination policies to onshore country-wide COVID-19 measures, Captain Fillipos, a Greek local himself, and our crew excitedly reintroduced Azamara guests to the stunning landscapes, culinary delights, historical sites, and hospital people of Greece once more. Looking for inspiration? Find more details on What to Expect in Greece from captain and crew with our blog.

Return With Us to the Caribbean and the Canary Islands

There is good news on the horizon. Not only have we returned to sea, but we’re also returning to the Canary Islands and the Caribbean starting this holiday season — and itineraries are now open. We have other Mediterranean voyages to choose from as well in Greece, Croatia, and Egypt. We are excited to revisit the Canary Islands and the Caribbean and explore for the first time the port of El Hierro in the Canaries, a volcanic isle dotted with quaint hamlets that’s also a designated UNESCO biosphere reserve.

In Tenerife, you’ll have the chance to immerse yourself in authentic culture and cuisine as you enjoy lunch hosted by locals or take an enchanted forest hike through the National Park of Garajonay. The beauty of the island and its people will prove to be unforgettable.

Bask in the warmth of the sun all winter long in the Caribbean and swim with stingrays in Grand Cayman. In St. John, USVI, paddle through Mangrove Lagoon or relax on the golden shores of Honeymoon Beach. For foodies, we have beachside cooking lessons with a local chef in Cozumel followed by snorkeling in Playa Mia, where an underwater Mayan city awaits.

Our complimentary Destination Celebration℠ experience will be taking place while docked in Tenerife and St. Maarten as well. Our new onboard program for guests brings the culture and heritage of these destinations to life through local musicians, tasty bites, and refreshing cocktails — a night you're likely only to experience with Azamara.

The Caribbean and the Canary Islands Through New Eyes

Lush green forests, beautiful blue waters, endless white-sand beaches — these evocative details could describe either the Caribbean and the Canary Islands, and often do. An ocean apart, these exotic archipelagos have long been beloved by Azamara crew and cruisers for a good reason. Home to a wealth of heritage, culture, landscapes, and cuisines, the Caribbean and the Canary Islands are virtual mosaics of history waiting to be explored. Returning to both destinations for the first time since 2019, you can look forward to visiting a selection of new ports, along with a few old favorites, to experience more relaxing beaches, UNESCO World Heritage sites, and gastronomical centers as Azamara takes you closer and more in-depth to these stunning ports.

  • Philipsburg, St. Maarten

    Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Divided into two by two different nations, St. Maarten’s is a melding of cultures that offers an eclectic mix of French, Dutch, and African heritage in everything from their dialect to cuisine. It's also where we'll have our first Caribbean Destination Celebration in Philipsburg, an adaptation of our AzAmazing Evenings, which brings all the incredible culture and heritage of the destination to you — right onboard. Discover some of the island’s most celebrated local musicians and groove to calypso favorites while experiencing the most of this destination.

  • George Town, Grand Cayman

    George Town, Grand Cayman

Cosmopolitan yet understated, George Town offers something for everyone. There’s the legendary Seven Mile Beach — a must-visit destination for sun worshippers and sand lovers alike — and a fresh array of seafood for foodies to dive into, like Cayman-style lobster. History buffs will find a rich depiction of the island’s heritage and natural history within the halls of the Cayman National Museum, while art lovers are sure to enjoy the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, which hosts rotating exhibits that showcase the talents of the Caymanian people.

  • San Juan, Puerto Rico

    San Juan, Puerto Rico

The second-oldest European settlement in the Americas, San Juan holds a wealth of history behind its thick fortress walls. From the 16th-century architecture and pulsating samba rhythms of Old Town to the ever-evolving arts and culinary landscape of vibrant Santurce, San Juan is truly a mix of traditional and modern. Home to incredible Caribbean fusion dishes, you can see this melting-pot of culture and history effortlessly combine with each morsel of Latin American cuisine layered with flavors from Europe, Asia, Africa, and beyond on each plate in the SoFo district.

  • Basseterre, St. Kitts

    Basseterre, St. Kitts

Lush landscapes, shimmering waters — St. Kitts is a pleasure seekers' dream come true. Of course, there's no better way to explore the island than by joining a shore excursion like our Best of St. Kitts excursion which takes you to historical Basseterre, the Timothy Hill Lookout, Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, and Romney Manor. Prefer to travel by rail? Hop on the St. Kitts Scenic Railway to see forested peaks and sugarcane plantations — all while relaxing with a drink and taking in fascinating insights from your guide.

  • La Estaca, El Hierro Canary Islands

La Estaca, El Hierro Canary Islands

While we’re returning to some of our favorite ports, part of the joy of exploration is visiting somewhere new. That's why we're thrilled to call La Estaca, El Hierro, one of our 2021 Maiden Ports. A UNESCO biosphere reserve, its rugged beauty is a sight to behold. The second-smallest of the Canary Islands, what it lacks in size it makes up for in out-of-this-world sights, hiking trails, and local cuisine of fresh cheeses, wines, and seafood. This tiny island is truly a gift, so it's fitting we're visiting over the 2021 holiday season.

  • Tenerife, Canary Islands

    Tenerife, Canary Islands

The best-known Canary Island, Tenerife, is as beautiful as it is culturally diverse — a culture that is on full display during our new Mamas & Tapas shore excursion. This exclusive experience begins in La Laguna, where you’ll work up an appetite on a walking tour before heading to El Sauzal, a 16th-century town. It’s the perfect place to take in the region’s spectacular views and meet the local "Mamas," who will invite you into their homes for a lunch menu of Canarian favorites and a taste of daily life.
