All About Italy
Your Italian adventure begins in romantic Ravenna, Italy. Two days here will provide plenty of time to explore its colorful churches or visit Bologna, the nearby Medieval city. Don’t miss the delightful dining available in La Grassa (literally meaning “The fat one”), including famously lauded lasagna and tantalizing gelato.
Next is the hidden gem of Ancona, on the Adriatic. Visit Corso Garibaldi for your pick of classic Italian delights, including stoccafisso all'anconetana—a seafood dish that put Ancona on the culinary map. As you travel the coast, you get a pitstop (and a late stay) in the charming city of Kotor, in Montenegro. This UNESCO World Heritage Site features a beautiful coastal view, bewitching cobblestone streets, and structures that date back to the Middle Ages.
Then, after a delightful day enjoying the entertainment and amenities of the Azamara Onward while cruising the Adriatic Sea, it’s all about the views on a late stay in Amalfi, where rainbow-hued homes are stacked on the cliff side and winding roads lead you to Positano and Salerno. Next, savor some Italian comfort food in Sorrento and fuel up for a day of archaeological exploration in Pompeii.
The artistic and cultural powerhouse of Florence is next on your journey. Known as the birthplace of the Renaissance, priceless art is seemingly everywhere in this Tuscan capital, including the statues of its famous Duomo. Take advantage of your two-day stay to treat yourself to an overnight experience, travel to Pisa, or visit a Tuscan winery. Then, we zip up the coast to La Spezia. Jump on the train for a quick ride to Cinque Terre, where the precariously placed pastel homes will take your breath away.
Always enchanting, your voyage concludes in the Eternal City of Rome where new experiences await, no matter how many times you’ve been before.
