Set off on foot for an exploration of Venice that provides an intimate look at the city’s most impressive attractions. Begin with a tour through the ornate chambers of Doge’s Palace. Climb the famous Golden Staircase and stand within the Great Council Chamber graced by the paintings of Tintoretto and Veronese. Cross the Bridge of Sighs that leads to the old palace prison before continuing to ever-lively St. Mark’s Square. Here, history beckons from every corner while artists, musicians and street entertainers do their best to woo the generosity of strangers. Of course, this is also home to Venice’s most glorious landmark, St. Mark’s Cathedral. Learn about the cathedral’s rich history and enjoy a guided interior visit. Examine exquisite blue and gold mosaics, marble floors and walls, and massive pillared arches. Guests must be able to walk approximately 1 mile over uneven and cobblestone surfaces with up to 500 steps.
Guests in wheelchairs and others with limited mobility should not select this tour.
A strict dress code is enforced inside Saint Mark’s Cathedral.
No exposed shoulders or knees.
No tank tops or shorts.
Narration inside the basilica is not permitted.
Guide will provide information outside the Cathedral then lead guests through the interior.
At end of tour guests may opt to return to ship via motor launch or stay in town and return independently. Tour sequence may vary.
This tour is not suitable for guests in wheelchairs or with limited mobility.Tours cannot enter the Basilica on Sunday mornings and church holidays, or in case of unespected religious functions, due to services. If the church permits and time permitting, however, entry may be allowed on an individual basis.
For security reasons, large bags and backpacks must be left in a checkroom before entering the venue. Guests are highly recommended not to bring such items on this excursion to avoid any inconvenience or loss of time.
