Gain a new perspective of Punta Arenas by exploring the city on foot. Punta Arenas is a city of hard-working immigrants who have found ways to survive the harsh weather at the end-of-the-world. Begin your walk at Bulnes Avenue, viewing one of the iconic symbols of Patagonia and Punta Arenas, El Ovejero, the Shepherd Monument. Continue past the local cemetery, towards the Salesian Museum. Learn about the flora and fauna of the region and about indigenous ways of life. Then, stroll along Bories Street, Punta Arenas's main thoroughfare toward Plaza de Armas, with its monument of Ferdinand Magellan. Legend has it that if you kiss the toe of the Patagonian figure, you will return to the city in the future. Finally, make your way to Cerro de la Cruz viewpoint, overlooking the Strait of Magellan. Here, you'll visit a local boutique hotel to sample flavors and drinks of the region before returning to the ship.
