IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE TRADITIONAL DAILY LIFE OF THE BURMESE PEOPLE DURING A CRUISE HOLIDAY IN RANGOON. VISIT THE SHWEDAGON PAGODA FOR A GLIMPSE INTO BURMESE CULTURE.
Yangon's low-rise downtown region consists of leafy avenues and colonial architecture, for a small-town atmosphere despite a population of about 6 million. From almost anywhere in Yangon, you can see the great gilded dome of the Shwedagon Pagoda hovering over you protectively, and a visit will introduce you not only to one of Asia’s great religious sites, but to the daily life of the Burmese people. They come here often to make their devotions, but also to spend time with friends or sit in quiet contemplation. Kipling called it a “golden mystery”, and it is indeed capable of casting a spell on all who visit.
