Dreamy, Historic Greece

Ancient ruins, white-washed walls, blindingly blue skies, and even bluer waters. Greece is truly the stuff of myths and legends - and incredible food. But first, we depart from one of the world’s truly great cities, Istanbul, where you can visit the Hagia Sophia mosque, once the greatest church in Christendom, or lose yourself in the 5,000-plus shops and 60 streets of the Grand Bazaar, one of the oldest and largest covered markets in the world.

After a day at sea, your first stop will be in Chios, an island known for its beautiful beaches. No trip to Chios is complete without a stroll through the mazes of narrow alleys and traditional houses decorated in dizzying black and white patterns. A late night in vibrant and cosmopolitan Mykonos gives you time to stroll along the maze-like cobblestone streets exploring artists’ shops and enjoying a glass or two of ouzo, or embark on an excursion to the uninhabited island Delos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Your next destination is Patmos, a sacred island where Saint John wrote the Book of Revelation. Under the guard of the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian, take in the island’s quiet beauty over a picnic feast of local treats like grilled octopus and fresh bread and cheeses.

In the medieval city of Rhodes, we stay late so you can walk the streets of Old Town Rhodes at night - an absolute pleasure without the daytime crowds. Next up is Kos, one of Greece’s Dodecanese islands and known as the “Floating Garden.” Here you can visit Neratzia - the castle of knights, built as a fortress to protect the island from the Ottomans. Then, the gem of the Aegean awaits - Santorini. We stay late in this stunning port, so take your time strolling the bustling streets and volcanic beaches. We then dock in Agios Nikolaos, where a late stay will allow you to discover your new favorite restaurant along one of the city’s many side streets.

Chania is up next, where the bohemian Splantzia Quarter offers a lively look at this harbor city, and Old Town provides decadent dining for foodies looking to immerse themselves in Greek cuisine. We end our mythical journey in Athens, Europe’s oldest city. Settled over 3,500 years ago, there are spectacular ruins aplenty to explore, such as paying tribute to some of the world's first athletes at the Panathenaic Stadium.
