Your adventure begins with a drive along Marginal Bay, passing the Angola National Bank, known for its colonial architecture. Visit the San Miguel Fort, constructed in 1576. The fort was built to defend the city from French, Spanish, and Dutch armies, but in 1641, the Dutch seized Luanda. See the Agostinho Neto Mausoleum, a stunning obelisk. The site is believed to be the burial ground of Neto's first president. Then, make your way to the Benfica market, known for its wooden crafts and paintings. You'll receive Kwanza and practice your bargaining skills for local treasures, crafts, and refreshments. Finally, you'll visit the Slave Museum, where you'll learn about Angola's role in the slave trade and view exhibits of items used during this dark chapter of Angola's history.
