Your first stop is the El Alamein Military Museum, where you can peruse displays of weapons, military garb, and tanks. Learn about the actions of Montgomery, Rommel, and the others participating in the battle as you view the interesting artifacts. Continue with a visit to the burial site, which is a short drive west of town perched on a small peninsula overlooking the sea. Explore the citadel-like cemetery, which is the final resting place for Commonwealth, Italian, and German soldiers. Read about the significance of the battle as well as the diverse origins of the victims interred here on the inscribed plaque in a shaded alcove.
Travel through the broad and barren desert to the small village of El Alamein, one of the most beautiful areas along Egypt’s Mediterranean coast.
Stroll through the Military Museum to learn about the famous Battle of El Alamein as you view fascinating displays of historical memorabilia.
Then, travel to the cemetery, where you can view the neat rows of soldier’s tombstones that provide a poignant scene set against the seemingly interminable desert.

Tour is not wheelchair accessible due to gravel surfaces with inclines and few steps at the cemeteries.

The museum opens daily from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., however it closes on Fridays from noon-1 p.m.
The use of cameras is allowed at the museum and a fee may be requested.
The drive to/from Alexandria is approximately 1 hour each way, dependent upon traffic and local conditions.
