Azamara Journey
Sailing: June 30, 2021

Explore Iceland’s Natural Beauty

Set out on an epic 16-night voyage that sails to Iceland’s true hidden gem ports. Your journey begins in Oslo, where you’ll find brightly painted wooden houses and nods to Norway’s maritime history and Viking era. Take the next sailing day to explore all our boutique hotel at sea has to offer before calling on the far-flung Shetland Islands. There’s a solitary beauty here that can’t be matched. Well, perhaps in Runavik, our next stop on the Faroe Islands. Sheep outnumber people here, and it’s wild, windswept beauty is just starting to be explored by cruise enthusiasts.

Spend another day at sea (Sanctum Spa anyone?) before calling on our first Icelandic port—Heimaey. Forged by volcanoes, the island’s golf course is one of the few places in the world you can tee off at midnight. In Reykjavik, you’ll spend two days plunging into hot springs, sampling local cuisine, and discovering museums and galleries. Next up is Isafjordur, a remote fishing community with a quaint Old Town and a lively arts and music scene.

If you love horses, you’re in luck. Your next destination, Skagafjörður, is the only county in Iceland where horses outnumber people. During an overnight stay in Akureyri, marvel at the snow-capped mountain peaks, stunning fjords, and lush countryside. More wildlife awaits in Husavik: known as the whale-watching capital of Iceland, the waters surrounding this coastal town are home to humpbacks, minke, and the mammoth blue whale.

Your final Iceland destination is a late stay in Seydisfjordur, boasting some of the country’s most unique architecture, natural beauty, and friendly faces. Board the Azamara Journey® for two more days at sea before concluding your journey with an overnight stay  in historic, elegant Edinburgh.
