Bora Bora, Rarotonga, and New Zealand

Bucket list-worthy islands, a trip across the International Date Line, and otherworldly New Zealand are the stars of this 15-night South Seas voyage with Azamara Journey®. Beginning in Papeete, Tahiti, spend some time perusing pearls and sampling local cuisine at Les Roulottes before we leave port later at night. Our first stop is Bora Bora, a place that might lack in size but makes up for in overwhelming “no-you’re-not-dreaming” natural beauty, with serene lagoons and soaring mountain peaks.

After a day at sea it’s on to Rarotonga, where a bus tour along the scenic road that rings the island with an entertaining local driver is the best way to see all this tiny treasure has to offer. Settle in on board for four relaxing days at sea, perfect to savor specialty dining or to treat yourself to some spa time. Do a little time traveling as we cross the International Date Line and arrive in New Zealand.

Take a first class wine tour, sipping your way through sublime Chardonnay in Gisborne, world-renowned Sauvignon Blanc in Marlborough and Hawke’s Bay, and Pinot Noir in the famous Wairarapa region. Sip a perfectly crafted cup of coffee in Wellington, and enjoy the seaside town of Picton. We stay late in both ports, so there’s plenty of time to explore.

Shop for one-of-a-kind pieces in the artist’s haven of Nelson, visit vestiges of ancient volcanoes in New Plymouth, and ring in Waitangi Day (a holiday celebrating the country’s founding) at sea before ending with an overnight in Auckland. With late stays in almost every New Zealand port, you’ll be feeling part Kiwi by the time you depart.
