Visit the Paracas National Reserve, an UNESCO World Heritage Site boasting a vibrant marine reserve, bird habitat, and nature preserve. In the Ica coastal desert you'll find one of the world's richest marine ecosystems—the Paracas National Reserve. Plankton flourishes in the reserve's cold waters. Fish, seaweed, and seafood are abundant here. The reserve boasts an incredibly high concentration of birds that live beside the sea due to the desert environment just beyond the shore. Have your binoculars ready to spot flamingos and some of the other 216 migratory and marine bird species that call the Paracas National Reserve home. Watch for sea wolves, dolphins, whales, and leatherback turtles. You'll be joined by a local guide who will introduce you to this spectacular natural reserve and help you spot some of the animals that live here.
