Experience the botanical culture of Japan on an intimate excursion that explores the delicate traditions of bonsai trees and strolls through the tranquil paths of Ritsurin Garden. You’ll begin by meeting a local expert at a garden in Kinashi, the region where the art of bonsai began and which still supplies more than 80% of the world’s bonsai trees. Learn about the rich heritage behind these diminutive beauties which dates back more than 200 years. Next, you’ll head to Ritsurin Garden, a breathtaking collection of ponds, bridges stonework, and, of course, beautiful Japanese gardens. Stroll along serene paths and soak up the scenery before visiting the onsite Tea House where you will be served freshly brewed green tea. Afterwards, a short drive will return you to the ship in Takamatsu.
