Let the Reggae Beat Guide You
Dominica is known as “the Nature Island”—and for good reason. Though the capital, Rouseau, is more concrete jungle than actual jungle, it serves as the perfect jumping off point for enjoying the rugged natural beauty Dominica has to offer.
Head inland to the UNESCO World Heritage Side designated Morne Trois Pitons National Park to get a glimpse of the soaring mountains and lush forests that cover the interior of the island. Visit the Valley of Desolation to view the angry Boiling Lake, as well as geysers and bubbling mud ponds—testaments to Dominica’s volcanic makeup.
Film buffs might recognize the breathtaking Titou Gorge from Pirates of the Caribbean II. A brisk swim upstream will lead you to a spectacular waterfall, not to mention natural hot springs. And if all that fresh water fun has you longing for the ocean, suit up in your snorkeling gear and head to Champagne Reef. Underwater volcanic vents emit a continuous stream of bubbles, which has the feeling of swimming in a giant pool of Champagne. Cheers to that!
