The pearl of the Andaman Sea
In a nutshell, Phuket is a dream destination: A mythical tropical island with stunning scenery and untouched beaches that also happens to have modern, highly developed infrastructure, luxury resorts and spas, international cuisine, and some of the best nightlife in all of Asia. But the real highlight here is the incredible natural surroundings.
Phuket is a haven for water sport enthusiasts. Swim or snorkel to explore the world beneath the waves in the easily accessible reefs off Patong, Karon, and Kata beaches. The more adventurous can try their hand at free diving, surfing, kite surfing, wakeboarding, or even deep-sea fishing. For a different vantage point, rent a sea canoe and explore some of the grottoes in Phang Nga Bay, many are only accessible by water. And even though there is plenty to see on Thailand’s largest island, many of the surrounding smaller islands like Ko Haie, Ko Racha Yai, and Ko Phi Phi are the perfect for quick day trips.
Though daytime is the right time for fun in the sun, Phuket comes alive after dark. Patong is one of the party capitals of Asia, and there’s no shortage of clubs, bars, pubs, restaurants, and parties to keep you entertained.
