A Hidden Gem in the True-Blue Pacific
Often referred to as the “prettiest town in the Pacific,” Madang is a small village that’s big on natural wonder. Volcanoes, mountain peaks, valleys, beaches, and tiny islands speckled all around its peninsula—it’s brimming with truly unspoiled nature and scenery.
While the beauty of Madang is obvious as soon as the ship docks, some of the most incredible sights are underwater. Snorkeling in this area is world-renowned for some of the best reefs in the Coral Triangle (a marine area located in the western Pacific Ocean), its diverse marine biodiversity, and most uniquely—32 sunken ships from the World World II era.
While you’re in port, there’s plenty to see onshore. Machine Gun Beach is a popular spot among locals and visitors alike to soak in views of the Pacific or go for a dip. And in the Visitor and Cultural Bureau, you can learn about the fascinating history of this destination through cultural artifacts and see replicas and exhibits commemorating the fallen soldiers during World War II on a shore excursion with us.
