Embark on an educational nature hike along the Dassie Trail boardwalk in the Nahoon Estuary Nature Reserve. The Dassie Trail begins at the visitor's center and winds through a forested section of the estuary. Later, the trail opens up over a vista of mud flats lined with mangrove trees. Immerse yourself in an estuarine environment, one of many river ecosystems in the area. Walk along a boardwalk made of recycled plastic. The elevated walkway protects the sensitive inter-tidal estuary environment. At the end of the boardwalk and mangroves, you'll find a marked route that leads you back into the forest. Listen to the call of birds and keep on the lookout for the shy Narina trogon. Watch for the abundant bushbuck and the blue duiker. Birders should have their binoculars ready for glimpses of endemic species. After your hike, settle in a scenic location to enjoy refreshments and a pastry.
Stroll along a recycled boardwalk with educational and directional signs to introduce you to the Nahoon Estuary Nature Reserve.

Keep on the lookout for the hundreds of plants, insects, and wildlife that call the reserve home.
