Begin your experience with a panoramic drive on Puerto Rico’s north coast to Barceloneta. Arrive to the Semilla Cacao Farm, an agroforestry cacao plantation and interactive attraction run by a local couple. Discover the importance of the cacao seed and learn details about the chocolate-making process and how it has changed over the past 100 years. Get involved with the cultivation of the cacao plant, preparing the soil and planting the cacao seeds in the local nursery. After touring the grounds, sample some delicious products of the Cacao 360 chocolate brand that includes a bar of dark chocolate made of 80% Puerto Rican fine cacao, and a delicious cocoa tea. Also taste cacao in its raw form (pulp). You may also purchase your favorite local artisanal products to take back home. Finally, head over to the owners’ restaurant to delight in a flavorful Puerto Rican meal that includes unique, chocolate-infused dishes.
