Out of This World Wonders: A Central America & Panama Canal Cruise
Your journey begins in Fort Lauderdale, home to 24 miles of golden beaches, an eclectic arts and culture scene, and over 300 days of sunshine a year. Settle in with a full day at sea before arriving in Cozumel, Mexico, for a late stay. Cozumel is a laid-back Caribbean jewel of an island, where everything revolves around its warm blue waters. There are beaches for sunbathing and strolling, glass-bottom boat tours, fishing charters, and most popularly, scuba diving.
Spend the next two days enjoying life aboard the Azamara Onward. Pamper yourself at The Sanctum Spa or take in a wine tasting by our sommeliers before arriving in Puerto Limón. Here, experience the heart of Costa Rica’s Afro-Caribbean culture and exhilarating eco-adventures. Hike through rainforest paths surrounded by monkeys, sloths, and exotic birds or kayak amongst coral reefs at Cahuita National Park. Then, sail through a modern marvel—The Panama Canal. One of humanity’s greatest accomplishments, it’s considered one of the seven wonders of the contemporary world.
After a day and night at sea, you’ll wake up in Manta, Ecuador. This bustling port’s coastline draws powerful waves from the Pacific, making it widely known for watersports like surfing, kite-surfing, and fishing. Lounge or swim at one of the city’s two most popular beaches, Playa de Tarqui and Playa Murciélago. Next, experience a late stay in vibrant Guayaquil, Ecuador’s largest city. Visit Parque Seminario, a green space affectionately dubbed “Iguana Park,” thanks to the dozens of land iguanas who call it home. Or, visit Museo Presley Norton, boasting one of the largest collections of pre-Columbian artifacts from the Valdivia culture.
A day at sea awaits, followed by two exciting adventures in Peru. First, explore Salaverry—the gateway to Trujillo. You’ll have the chance to tour the archaeological sites surrounding the city, including Huaca de la Luna y Sol, Huaca del Dragon, and Chan Chan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest ancient city in South America. Your last stop is in the port city of Callao —your gateway to Lima—for an overnight stay. You’ll have plenty of time to explore the area’s vibrant gastronomy scene and visit immersive museums that shed light on Peru’s storied past, like the must-see Larco Museum. Located within the mansion of an 18th-century viceroy, you’ll be guided through 5000 years of Peruvian history and over 50,000 ceramic pots from various cultures, one of the largest ceramics collections in Lima.
