During your scenic drive, hear how local farmers score the bark of the Lentisk tree to collect its aromatic gum. Arrive to the delightful village of Pyrgi, which dates back to the 13th century and features a central tower, winding streets, and walled gates. Discover the wonderful architecture, including the many buildings decorated in Xysta, a system of geometric designs in black and white plaster. Next, journey over to Mesta, another wonderful Mastichochorian village dating back to the 14th century and a perfectly preserved example of a Byzantine castle-town. Explore the village castle that features four stone towers, the old church of small Taxiarhis, and the central village square. On your return drive, stop at the beautiful Mastic Museum to learn about the traditions of mastic cultivation and the historical significance.
