Explore the Land of Saints and Scholars
There’s an expression you’ll hear nearly everywhere you go in Ireland, céad míle fáilte. It means a hundred thousand welcomes, and it perfectly encapsulates this friendly and fun-loving island. Your cruise around the Emerald Isle begins in Dublin, a city that, at times, feels like a living museum. Be sure to visit the National Museum and marvel at Trinity College before venturing into Temple Bar for an evening spent sharing stories with locals in its legendary pubs.
Then, we’ll visit Cork for a late-night stay in Ireland’s cosmopolitan second city before sailing to another late stay in Foynes—a village in Limerick with a fascinating history of aviation that you can explore at the Foynes Flying Boat Museum. You’re sure to lose your heart to Galway, the next port on our itinerary. Beautifully bohemian, Galway was designated a European Capital of Culture for 2020, and it buzzes with live music, friendly faces, and an energetic atmosphere.
Next we’ll visit Donegal, a photogenic gem resting in the shadows of the Blue Stack Mountains, before calling Londonderry, Northern Ireland’s artistic hub. Then it’s off to Belfast for an overnight stay. Northern Ireland’s capital city in the midst of a great revitalization. Spend some time exploring the vibrant Cathedral Quarter, or stroll St George’s Market, to work up an appetite, then, dive headfirst into the city’s innovative and delicious gastronomy scene.
Take a day at sea to explore our specialty dining and luxe Sanctum Spa before we stop in Scotland. On the remote Orkney Islands, Kirkwall’s gently rolling panorama of fertile fields, heather cloaked moors, and lakes give way to ancient Neolithic sites dating back 5,000 years.
Another sea day follows as we make for some of Scandinavia's most cosmopolitan cities. On a late-night stay in Copenhagen, wander through the old town, stopping for a local repast of Smørrebrød, traditional open-face sandwiches, or a mouthwatering Danish pastry. Your voyage concludes after another day at sea in splendid Stockholm, where ultra-modern meets medieval magic.
