Atoll Adventure Awaits in Rangiroa

Its name means “immense sky” in the local language, a fitting name for Rangiroa. This remote atoll, one of the largest in the world, is surrounded by an endless ocean and abundant underwater life. The atoll itself is made up of over 400 smaller islets made of broken corals and sand, all in a ring shape, creating an open-air, natural aquarium to explore in the middle.

From the comfort of a small boat, or on a guided snorkeling trip, watch bottlenose dolphins playing around the atoll. This tropical paradise, lined with white sands and coconut trees, is home to sea turtles, friendly nurse sharks, colorful fish, manta rays, and other marine life. This lush lagoon is so large, the entire island of Tahiti could fit inside.

Visit Ohotu Point and sip on wine while watching wildlife play nearby. Despite its isolation, one-of-a-kind wine is made here, full of unique flavors from the tropical and oceanic location where the vines grow.

Walk on the pink sand of Les Sables Roses, a picture-perfect beach with beautiful hues both on land and at sea. After exploring Rangi, a common nickname for Rangiroa, it’s time to refuel with traditional French dishes, fresh seafood, and local Polynesian meals like poisson cru — raw tuna marinated in coconut milk and citrus juice.

From the capital of Avatoru to the Île aux Récifs (reef island), this glorious ring of islands in the Pacific is full of flavors, natural beauty, and picturesque beaches you won’t find anywhere else.
