A Nature Lovers’ Dream

Off the coast of Esperance in Western Australia whales swim right up to paddle boarders—just another day in this lovely remote town on the beautiful Bay of Isles. Framed by aquamarine waters and pristine white beaches, Esperance has an easygoing vibe that doesn’t exist in busier ports—you’re more likely to see a crowd of fur seals here than people.

Trampers—that’s the Aussie term for hikers—will find one of the most breathtaking walks in all of Australia near here, the Cape Le Grand Coastal Trail. Covering nine miles of incredible beaches and turquoise coves, your efforts will be rewarded with unbelievable views.

Mid way, you can rest on Australia’s whitest beach, Lucky Bay. But don’t miss the stunning small islands in the archipelago of the Recherche. Take a tour to Woody Island and wander among seals and sea lions, penguins and dolphins and Cape Barren geese. Once you’re back, try some yabbies (a freshwater crayfish found in Western Australia) and an Aussie craft beer. It’s part of the Esperance experience.
